Japan - Why are they saying that iodine in the ocean would 'disappear' after a while

Why is Japan saying that the iodine in the ocean would “disappear” (half-life) after a while
·       Radioactive iodine has a brief half-life
o   Become diluted in the ocean
o   Decay too quickly to be detected in fish
·       Iodine have shorter half-lives
o   Not as dangerous because it can take weeks for fish to make it to supermarkets and restaurants
·       However, there are findings that raised doubts
o   Leak also contained long-lasting cesium
§  Build up in fish
·       Have a negative impact on people in near future
